JUNKYARD

The Junkyard Party is an immersive, multi-sensory experience produced by Ann Aarat and Ellie Holliday, two boundary-pushing artists who fuse experimental sound, raw visual art, and underground rave culture into one electrifying night. This project lives at the intersection of installation art, immersive sound design, and high-energy nightlife — transforming unconventional spaces into wild, otherworldly playgrounds.

At the heart of The Junkyard Party is a tightly woven creative partnership. I led the visual direction—conceptualizing and designing immersive, surreal environments that unfolded across projection-mapped surfaces, light-based installations, and reactive visuals. My aim was to construct glitching, dystopian landscapes that felt tactile and alive, enveloping the audience in kaleidoscopic chaos.

Collaborating with sound artist Ann Aarat, whose audio compositions fused industrial textures, experimental electronica, and atmospheric club elements, we developed a system where every sonic cue informed a visual response—and vice versa. Her music didn’t just serve as a score; it became an environment that my visuals built upon, distorted, and transformed. While we each led in our respective domains, our process was deeply integrated, co-architecting each layer of the experience—from set design to moment-to-moment visual/sound interplay.

The night was structured as a progressive experience. It began with installation-led event production and experimental performances—spaces where audiences wandered through dissonance and discovery. As energy intensified, the environment expanded into a euphoric climax: a full-spectrum underground rave shaped by curated DJ sets and hypnotic visual rhythms. The project blurred the lines between installation, performance, and party. The Junkyard Party is our reclamation of the raw, the discarded, and the beautiful noise within it all.
